The VIX closed Tuesday at 19.78 (+12.32%) and the 10 YR at 4.788 (+2.42%). The VIX is currently at 19.58 (-1.01%). The 10YR is at 4.754 (-0.80%).
ADP said Wednesday 89,000 private payrolls were added last month. That’s well below a forecast of 160,000 and fewer than an upwardly revised 180,000 payroll additions from August.
Yesterdays JOLTS data indicated the labor market is still strong and bond yields marched higher. The Dow lost 1.3%, notching its worst session since March.
Intel (INTC) shares popped 2.5% after the chipmaker announced it would be operating its programmable chip unit as a standalone business complete. Intel plans to conduct an initial public offering for the unit within the next two to three years.
Apple (AAPL) shed 0.9% after KeyBanc cut its rating on Apple to sector weight from overweight late Tuesday, citing shares’ high valuation and an expectation for soft growth in the United States.
U.S. futures are higher, European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly lower.
The national average price of gasoline is down 1.3 cents at $3.785 per gallon.
