The Dow stock losers Wednesday were led by UnitedHealth (UNH) 459.86 (-6.40%), Boeing (BA) 216.90 (-1.58%) and Disney (DIS) 92.45 (-1.49%).
The VIX closed Wednesday at 13.88 (-5.00%) and the 10 YR at 3.827 (+0.90%). The VIX is currently at 14.08 (+1.44%). The 10YR is at 3.737 (-1.48%).
The Federal Reserve on Wednesday held its benchmark rate steady after more than a year of increases, but the central bank suggested more hikes could come this year. The next Fed meeting is in six weeks, and Chairman Jerome Powell said the next rate decision is still up in the air.
Weekly jobless claims numbers were slightly above estimates at 262,000 compared to a Dow Jones estimate of 245,000, while retail sales ticked up 0.3%.
U.S. futures are lower, European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mostly higher.
The national average price of gasoline is down two-tenths of a cent at $3.589 per gallon.
