Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -107 points.

Thursday the Dow closed up +80.34 (+0.24%) at 33,482.72.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +1.01%.

The Dow stock winners Thursday were led by Microsoft (MSFT) 291.60 (+2.55%), Walmart (WMT) 150.80 (+0.75%) and UnitedHealth (UNH) 512.81 (+0.70%).

The Dow stock losers Thursday were led by Caterpillar (CAT) 209.17 (-2.04%), Salesforce (CRM) 192.55 (-1.41%) and American Express (AXP) 158.83 (-1.40%).

The VIX closed Thursday at 18.40 (-3.56%). The VIX is currently at 19.67 (+3.09%). The 10YR is at 3.278.

The monthly jobs report out Friday showed a resilient economy, adding 236,000 nonfarm payrolls in March, roughly in line with the Dow Jones estimate for 238,000 jobs. The report from the Labor Department showed the unemployment rate down to 3.5%, bucking expectations it would hold steady at 3.6%.

The drain on U.S. bank deposits has slowed following an industry crisis last month, according to recent Federal Reserve data. For all banks, deposits fell by a seasonally adjusted $64.7 billion, or 0.37%, for the period ending March 29, the Fed reported Friday. That compared to a decline of $172.1 billion, or nearly 1%, for the previous week. Domestically chartered large banks saw outflows of nearly $40 billion while small banks were little changed. On non-seasonally adjusted basis, deposits actually increased by $42.3 billion.

Apple (AAPL) shares slid 1.3% in premarket trading on Monday after International Data Corporation reported that global shipments of traditional PCs fell nearly 30% year over year in the first quarter, while Mac sales dropped 40% over the same time period. IDC cited poor demand, excess inventory and deteriorating macroeconomic environment.

U.S. futures are lower, European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is up three-tenths of a cent at $3.604 per gallon.
