The Dow stock winners Friday were led by Chevron (CVX) 177.40 (+3.09%), Disney (DIS) 88.01 (+1.55%) and Dow (DOW) 50.86 (+1.38%).

The Dow stock losers Friday were led by 3M (MMM) 120.14 (-1.19%), Amgen (AMGN) 263.92 (-0.51%) and Nike (NKE) 116.25 (-0.39%).

The 10 YR yield closed Thursday at 3.747 (+0.03%) and the VIX at 20.87 (-5.01%). The 10 YR is currently at 3.664 and VIX is at 20.51 (+2.19%).

Stocks are headed for their worst yearly performance since 2008 and another down month.

Markets were closed Monday for the Christmas holiday, but in this shortened trading week, investors are expecting either relative quiet or further volatility due to low trading volumes.

Shares of China-based companies trading on U.S. exchanges rose in the premarket as the country eases Covid restrictions. China announced it plans to lift quarantine requirements for travelers beginning Jan. 8.

The Dow is down -4.01% month to date, on pace to break a 2-month win streak. The Dow is also down -8.63% year to date, on pace to break a 3-year win streak with its worst yearly performance since 2008 when it fell -33.84%.

U.S. futures are mostly higher, European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up two-tenths of a cent at $3.104 per gallon.
