The 10 YR yield is currently at 3.092% and the VIX is at 27.16 (+6.26%).
Futures are down across the board Monday morning, with no new economic data or major earnings reports expected. Investors are looking forward to the August jobs report, scheduled for Friday, as they weigh just how big a rate hike could be coming from the Fed in September.
Walmart (WMT) is offering to buy the 47% of South African retailer Massmart that it doesn’t already own for $377.6 million. That values Massmart at 53% above Friday’s close.
Dow Inc. (DOW) fell 2.8% in the premarket after KeyBanc downgraded it to “underweight” from “sector weight.” KeyBanc said it expects Dow’s margins and earnings this quarter to approach trough or recession levels.
U.S. futures are lower, European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.
The national average price of gasoline is down three-tenths of a cent at $3.850 per gallon.
