The Dow stock losers Friday were led by Boeing (BA) 162.92 (-3.42%), JPMorgan (JPM) 118.63 (-2.47%) and Nike (NKE) 113.16 (-2.46%).

The 10 YR yield is currently at 2.982% and the VIX is at 20.60 (+5.32%).

Looks like a down start tot the week as investors are deciding whether they believe the Federal Reserve will continue its aggressive rate hikes to curb inflation. They will be looking for clues from Fed Chair Jerome Powell, who is slated to talk Friday in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

While the United States hikes interest rates to fight inflation, China is cutting them as it faces an economic slowdown brought on by tight Covid restrictions and turmoil in the country’s housing market. Analyst reactions were mixed. Some said it was an encouraging sign that the People’s Bank of China is willing to boost liquidity, even if this most recent move won’t have much of an impact.

U.S. futures are lower, European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down three-tenths of a cent at $3.901 per gallon.
