The Dow Market Happenings For Tuesday, July 6, 2021 – Honeywell (HON) +4.05% YTD

Dow stocks hitting 52 week highs include Microsoft (MSFT), Nike (NKE) and Visa (V). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -28 points.

Friday the Dow was up +152.82 (+0.44%) at 34,786.35.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +13.66%.

There were 22 Dow stocks up Friday.

The Dow stock winners Friday were led by Microsoft (MSFT) 277.65 (+2.23%), Apple (AAPL) 139.96 (+1.96%) and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) 168.98 (+1.82%).

The Dow stock losers Friday were led by IBM (IBM) 140.02 (-4.64%), Boeing (BA) 236.68 (-1.27%) and Walgreens (WBA) 48.17 (-1.11%).

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which logged a fourth straight positive session Friday, finished at its first record close since early May.

Bond yields have ticked lower and gold prices have jumped to a nearly two-week high, back above $1,800 per ounce.

U.S. benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude topped $76.98 per barrel, its highest price since November 2014. International benchmark Brent crude was trading around late 2018 highs above $77. The moves came after talks between OPEC and its oil-producing allies were postponed indefinitely, with the group failing to reach an agreement on output policy for August and beyond.

As many as 1,500 businesses around the world have been affected by ransomware attack centered on Florida-based information technology firm Kaseya. Russia-linked gang REvil, which extorted $11 million from meat processor JBS last month, said it would unscramble all affected machines for $70 million in cryptocurrency. President Joe Biden said Saturday he ordered a “deep dive” by U.S. intelligence into the Kaseya breach, warning the U.S. would respond if it were to determine Kremlin involvement. A spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow was not aware of the attack.

US futures are mixed, European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is unchanged at $3.134 per gallon.

JPMorgan (JPM) reports earnings on 7/13/2021 before the market open.

UnitedHealth (UNH) reports earnings on 7/15/2021 before the market open.
