Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +8 points.

Monday the Dow was down -126.15 (-0.36%) at 34,630.24.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +13.15%.

The Dow stock winners Monday were led by Microsoft (MSFT) 253.81 (+1.20%), Boeing (BA) 252.66 (+1.10%) and American Express (AXP) 165.92 (+0.56%).

The Dow stock losers Monday were led by Merck (MRK) 72.80 (-1.77%), Caterpillar (CAT) 239.76 (-1.75%) and Dow (DOW) 69.24 (-1.61%).

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which fell Monday, is less than 1% away from its May record close.

The Biden administration is set to announce a series of steps designed to strengthen critical U.S. supply chains Tuesday, building up domestic manufacturing capabilities for key products and addressing existing vulnerabilities. The report’s initial recommendations focus on four products critical to the U.S. economy: large capacity lithium batteries, rare earth minerals, semiconductors and active pharmaceutical ingredients.

US futures are higher, European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is up seven-tenths of a cent at $3.060 per gallon.
