Tuesday the Dow was down -81.52 (-0.24%) at 34,312.46.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +12.11%.

The Dow stock winners Tuesday were led by Boeing (BA) 240.74 (+1.39%), Disney (DIS) 176.17 (+1.07%) and Home Depot (HD) 316.75 (+0.61%).

The Dow stock losers Tuesday were led by Amgen (AMGN) 242.00 (-2.32%), Merck (MRK) 77.50 (-1.94%) and Chevron (CVX) -1.64%).

The 10-year Treasury yield ticked higher Wednesday, though it remained below 1.6% as Federal Reserve officials try to calm inflation fears.

A group of GOP senators plans to send President Joe Biden an infrastructure counteroffer as soon as Thursday morning as both sides consider whether they can bridge their ideological gulfs to craft a bipartisan bill. The proposal could cost nearly $1 trillion. Republicans aim to offset the spending without increasing taxes.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down one-tenth of a cent at $3.035 per gallon.

Cisco (CSCO) reports earnings on 5/19/2021 after the market close of $0.83, beating estimates of $0.742 per share.

Salesforce (CRM) reports earnings of 5/27/2021 after the market close.
