Monday the Dow was down -123.04 (-0.36%) at 34,077.63.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +11.34%.

The Dow stock winners Monday were led by Walgreens (WBA) 53.79 (+0.92%), Coca Cola (KO) 54.00 (+0.60%) and Apple (AAPL) 134.84 (+0.51%).

The Dow stock losers Monday were led by Intel (INTC) 63.63 (-1.73%), Boeing (BA) 244.15 (-1.62%) and Nike (NKE) 132.57 (-1.30%).

IBM (IBM) issued first-quarter earnings and revenue that exceeded estimates. The enterprise technology and services provider reported revenue growth after four quarters of declines. Shares rose nearly 3% in the premarket.

Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) earnings beat estimates on first-quarter earnings and revenue, including $100 million in sales of its Covid vaccine, which is on hold in the U.S. as health regulators investigate rare but severe blood-clotting issues. J&J hares fell in premarket.

Procter & Gamble (PG) earnings topped expectations on earnings and revenue in its fiscal third quarter as consumers maintained Covid buying trends like purchasing more cleaning supplies and started buying beauty products again. P&G shares fell in premarket.

Travelers (TRV) reported better than expected earnings in the first quarter. Revenue basically met estimates. The insurance company raised its dividend and added $5 billion to its buyback program. Travelers hares rose 1% in premarket.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is up one-tenth of a cent at $2.872 per gallon.
