Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plan to discuss a possible Covid relief package, but have yet to reach a deal.
European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.
The national average price of gasoline is down four-tenths of a cent at $2.182 per gallon.
