The cumulative total of coronavirus cases worldwide since the beginning of the outbreak rose above 33.87 million early Wednesday. Deaths rose to more than 1.01 million globally. In the U.S., the total cumulative case count topped 7.4 million, with deaths at more than 210,000.
European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly lower.
The national average price of gasoline is up six-tenths of a cent at $2.188 per gallon.
