Friday the Dow was up +358.52 (+1.34%) at 27,173.96.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -4.78%.

The Dow stock winners Friday were led by Boeing (BA) 156.03 (+6.83%), Apple (AAPL) 112.28 (+3.75%) and UnitedHealth (UNH) 302.50 (+3.36%).

The Dow stock losers Friday were led by Dow (DOW) 46.04 (-0.80%), Nike (NKE) 124.23 (-0.42%) and Merck (MRK) 82.93 (-0.26%).

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that the Democrats would soon unveil a new proposal of more than $2 trillion, a step down from the more than $3 trillion House Democrats had sought previously, but a figure still higher than the about $1.5 trillion the Trump administration suggested would be its upper bound for further virus-related relief measures.

Get ready for the presidential debate tomorrow.

European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down one-tenth of a cent at $2.186 per gallon.

Earnings Reports
