DJIA Market Happenings For Friday, September 4, 2020

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +166 points.

Thursday the Dow was down -807.77 (-2.78%) at 28,292.73.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -0.86%.

The Dow stock losers Thursday were led by Apple (AAPL) 120.88 (-8.01%%), Microsoft (MSFT) 217.30 (-6.19%), Home Depot (HD) 274.63 (-4.38%) and Salesforce (CRM) 265.01 (-4.22%).

The government Jobs Report said Friday morning that the economy added 1.37 million nonfarm jobs in August, slightly better than estimates, after a revised 1.7 million additions in July. While the pace of rehiring during the coronavirus slowed month-over-month, the nation’s August unemployment rate dropped to 8.4%, lower than economists had expected.

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down four-tenths of a cent at $2.228 per gallon.
