DJIA Market Happenings For Tuesday, August 25, 2020

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +136 points.

Monday the Dow was up +378.13 (+1.35%) at 28,308.46.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -1.26%.

There were 25 Dow stocks up Monday.

The Dow stock winners Monday were led by Boeing (BA) 178.27 (+6.43%), Dow (DOW) 46.12 (+5.80%) and American Express (AXP) 99.33 (+3.31%).

The Dow stock losers Monday were led by UnitedHealth (UNH) 308.84 (-1.69%), Intel (INTC) 49.14 (-0.28%) and Walmart (WMT) 131.33 (-0.23%).

S&P Dow Jones Indices, which manages the benchmark index of 30 stocks, is adding Salesforce (CRM), Amgen (AMGN) and Honeywell to the Dow while giving ExxonMobil (XOM), Pfizer (PFE) and Raytheon Technologies (RTN) the boot. The decision was made to balance out the disruption from Apple’s 4-to-1 stock split, which takes effect next Monday (8/31/2020).

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is up two-tenths of a cent at $2.191 per gallon.
