California declared a state of emergency after a coronavirus related death and 53 confirmed cases in the state. The number of infections in New York also doubled overnight to 22 as the state ramps up its testing.

The U.S. economy added a stronger-than-expected 273,000 jobs in February as the unemployment rate ticked back down to 3.5%. Economists expected 177,000 new jobs and steady 3.6% unemployment. Average hourly wage growth came in at 3.0%.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down eight-tenths of a cent at $2.408 per gallon.
