The Dow Market Happenings For Monday, March 2, 2020

There are no Dow stocks at 52 week highs. Dow stock 52 week lows include Boeing (BA), Chevron (CVX), Cisco (CSCO), Exxon Mobil (XOM), IBM (IBM), Pfizer (PFE), Travelers (TRV), Verizon (VZ) and Walgreens (WBA).

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +210 points.

Friday the Dow was down -357.28 (-1.39%) at 25,409.36. The VIX closed today at 40.11, up 2.43%.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -10.96%.

For the week, the Dow lost -3,810.62 points or -13.04%. At the Dow’s lowest point Friday, it was down -1,001.88. A buying spree took hold in the last 45 minutes or so of trading to bring it up to only down -357.28 on the day.

The Dow stock winners Friday were led by Exxon Mobil (XOM) +3.25%, Microsoft (MSFT) +2.42% and Dow (DOW) +2.17%.

The Dow stock losers Friday were led by Boeing (BA) -4.40%, JPMorgan (JPM) -4.33% and Travelers (TRV) -3.44%.

Confirmed U.S. Covid-19 cases have climbed to at least 88. The U.S. suffered its first two coronavirus deaths, two people in Washington state. The coronavirus may have been present in the state for at least six weeks, with hundreds of potential infections. Worldwide coronavirus cases approached 90,000 overnight with 3,048 deaths.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down six-tenths of a cent at $2.435 per gallon.
