The Centers for Disease Control said there is a U.S. coronavirus of possible unknown origin, raising fears that the virus is beginning to spread in America. That came after President Donald Trump spoke on the coronavirus crisis. Microsoft (MSFT) warned it’ll miss sales targets due to the outbreak, following warnings from Apple (AAPL).
Unemployment insurance weekly claims in the week ending February 22, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 219,000, an increase of 8,000 from the previous week’s revised level. The previous week’s level was revised up by 1,000 from 210,000 to 211,000. The 4-week moving average was 209,750, an increase of 500 from the previous week’s revised average. The previous week’s average was revised up by 250 from 209,000 to 209,250. The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.2 percent for the week ending February 15, unchanged from the previous week’s unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending February 15 was 1,724,000, a decrease of 9,000 from the previous week’s revised level. The previous week’s level was revised up 7,000 from 1,726,000 to 1,733,000. The 4-week moving average was 1,729,250, an increase of 5,250 from the previous week’s revised average. The previous week’s average was revised up by 1,750 from 1,722,250 to 1,724,000.
European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mostly higher.
The national average price of gasoline is down five-tenths of a cent at $2.467 per gallon.
