DJIA Market Happenings For Monday, September 16, 2019

Dow stocks at 52 week highs include JPMorgan (JPM) and Walmart (WMT). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +109 points.

Friday the Dow was up +37.0.7 (+0.14%) at 27,219.52.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +16.68%.

There were 18 Dow stocks up Friday.

The Dow stock winners Friday were led by Dow (DOW) +2.62%, UnitedHealth (UNH) +2.00% and JPMorgan (JPM) +1.97%.

The Dow stock losers Friday were led by Apple (AAPL) -1.94%, Travelers (TRV) -1.34% and McDonald’s (MCD) -1.10%.

Oil prices have spiked after a devastating attack on the heart of Saudi Arabian oil production over the weekend shocked markets and could disrupt the global supply of crude for some time. Prices initially surged as much as 18% but retreated after President Trump said on Sunday night that he had authorized the use of oil from the country’s emergency oil supply. Trump said oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve would be used “to keep the markets well-supplied.” The US reserve is the largest backup pool of oil.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down one-tenth of a cent at $2.564 per gallon.
