Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -34 points.

Monday the Dow was up +249.78 (+0.96%) at 26,135.79.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +12.04%.

There were 28 Dow stocks up Monday.

The Dow stock winners Monday were led by Cisco (CSCO) +3.28%, Dow (DOW) +2.45%, Home Depot (HD) +2.11% and Apple (AAPL) +1.86%.

The Dow stock losers Monday were UnitedHealth (UNH) -0.40% and American Express (AXP) -0.18%.

Shares of Home Depot (HD) were higher in premarket trading Tuesday morning, after the home improvement retailer beat estimates with second-quarter earnings of $3.17 per share. However, revenue of $30.8 billion fell short of expectations. Home Depot also lowered its sales outlook for the year on worries that the China trade war will slow consumer spending. The company had previously warned about the toll a slump in lumber prices is taking on its business. Lumber accounts for about 8% of Home Depot’s total sales.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down nine-tenths of a cent at $2.609 per gallon.

Earnings Reports

Home Depot (HD) reported earnings on 8/20/2019 before the market open of $3.17, beating estimates calling for $3.123 per share.
