The Dow Market Happenings For Thursday, June 27, 2019

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -9 points.

Wednesday the Dow was down -11.40 (-0.04%) at 26,536.82.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +13.76%.

There were 15 Dow stocks up Wednesday.

The Dow stock winners Wednesday were led by Intel (INTC) +2.86%, Apple (AAPL) +2.16% and Dow (DOW) +1.55%.

The Dow stock losers Wednesday were led by Travelers (TRV) -2.89%, Merck (MRK) -1.99% and Procter & Gamble (PG) -1.78%.

Boeing (BA) slides as much as 5% in early trading on Thursday morning after US regulators ordered more design changes to the 737 Max airplane. The Federal Aviation Administration found an error in data processing on the plane’s computers that could cause the aircraft to go into a dangerous dive. Pilots have struggled to recover from the issue during flight simulations. The new problem is separate from safety flaws that caused two 737 Max aircraft to crash last year.

President Donald Trump is set to sit down with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of a multilateral summit in Japan on Saturday, June 29. The meeting marks a last-ditch attempt to avoid planned escalations in a sprawling trade war between the largest economies. Trump has said punishing tariffs on nearly all remaining imports from China would take effect if no progress was made during the two-day G20 summit in Osaka.

European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up nine-tenths of a cent at $2.693 per gallon.

Nike (NKE) reports earnings on 6/27/2019 after the market close.
