The Dow Market Happenings For Friday, June 7, 2019

Dow stocks at 52 week highs include Coca Cola (KO), McDonald’s (MCD) and Visa (V). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +68 points.

Thursday the Dow was up +181.09 (+0.71%) at 25,720.66.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +10.26%.

There were 26 Dow stocks up Thursday.

The Dow stock winners Thursday were led by Chevron (CVX) +2.58%, Exxon Mobil (XOM) +1.82% and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) +1.71%.

The Dow stock losers Thursday were led by Travelers (TRV) -0.57%, UnitedHealth (UNH) -0.39% and Nike (NKE) -0.33%.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics said the US economy added 75,000 nonfarm payrolls in May, compared with economist expectations for an increase of 180,000 jobs. The unemployment rate held steady at 3.6%. Average hourly earnings rose 0.2% in May, the same as in the previous month. That brought wage growth from a year earlier to 3.1%, missing economist expectations.

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down 1.2 cents at $2.771 per gallon.
