The Dow stock winners Monday were led by Caterpillar (CAT) +3.51%, JPMorgan (JPM) +3.37% and United Technologies (UTX) +3.34%.

The Dow stock losers Monday were led by McDonald’s (MCD) -0.80%, UnitedHealth (UNH) -0.70% and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) -0.58%.

Walgreens (WBA) posted weaker-than-expected second quarter earnings Tuesday and slashed its 2019 outlook, warning profits would be “roughly flat” from the previous year. Walgreens said earnings for the three months ending in February, the company’s fiscal second quarter, came in at $1.64 per share, down 5.4% from the same period last year and well shy of the Street consensus forecast of $1.73 per share. Sales rose 4.6% to $34.5 billion and matched analysts’ forecasts of $34.57 billion. Looking into the whole of 2019, Walgreens said it sees “roughly flat” profits, markedly lower than that 7% to 12% growth it had predicted, thanks in part to falling generic drug prices.

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up three-tenths of a cent at $2.695 per gallon.

Nike (NKE) reported earnings on 3/21/2019 after the market close of $0.68, beating estimates of $0.662 per share.

Walgreens (WBA) reported earnings on 4/2/2019 before the market open of $1.64, missing estimates calling for $1.732 per share.

JPMorgan (JPM) reports earnings on 4/12/201 before the market open.
