DJIA Market Happenings For Wednesday, March 6, 2019

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -11 points.

Tuesday the Dow was down -13.02 (+0.05%) at 25,806.63.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +10.63%.

There were 12 Dow stocks up Tuesday.

The Dow stock winners Tuesday were led by UnitedHealth (UNH) +2.29%, Chevron (CVX) +0.96% and Walmart (WMT) +0.50%.

The Dow stock losers Tuesday were led by Walgreens (WBA) -2.07%, 3M (MMM) -1.46% and DowDuPont (DWDP) -1.05%.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development on Wednesday cut its global growth forecast to 3.3% from 3.5%, saying the global economy is “facing increasingly serious headwinds.”

The ADP report said private-sector employment has “throttled back” in February. Employers added 183,000 jobs in February, compared with a revised 300,000 in January. The gain in February was close to forecasts from economists who expected a gain of 180,000.

European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up eight-tenths of a cent at $2.438 per gallon.
