Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -109 points.

Thursday the Dow was up +20.88 (+0.08%) at 25,995.87.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +5.16%.

The Dow stock winners Thursday were led by Boeing (BA) +1.32% and Visa (V) +1.28%.

The Dow stock losers Thursday were led by Chevron (CVX) -3.10% and Apple (AAPL) -1.66%.

The U.S. economy added 201,000 jobs in August. The unemployment rate remained unchanged at a very low 3.9 percent. Wage growth continued to be an issue in the report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, with average hourly earnings nudging slightly upward to 2.9 percent annual growth from July’s 2.7 percent. The average hourly pay for employees on private non-farm payrolls rose by 10 cents, to $27.16.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is unchanged at $2.854 per gallon.
