The Dow Market Happenings For Thursday, June 7, 2018

Dow stocks at 52 week highs include Apple (AAPL), Boeing (BA), Microsoft (MSFT), Nike (NKE) and Visa (V). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +60 points.

Wednesday the Dow was up +346.41 (+1.40%) at 25,146.39.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +1.73%.

There were 26 Dow stocks up Wednesday.

The Dow stock winners Wednesday were led by Boeing (BA) +3.18% and DowDuPont (DWDP) +3.17%.

The Dow stock losers Wednesday were led by General Electric (GE) -1.16% and Travelers (TRV) -0.31%.

Unemployment insurance weekly claims in the week ending June 2, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 222,000, a decrease of 1,000 from the previous week’s revised level. The previous week’s level was revised up by 2,000 from 221,000 to 223,000. The 4-week moving average was 225,500, an increase of 2,750 from the previous week’s revised average. The previous week’s average was revised up by 500 from 222,250 to 222,750. Claims taking procedures in Puerto Rico and in the Virgin Islands have still not returned to normal. The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.2 percent for the week ending May 26, unchanged from the previous week’s unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending May 26 was 1,741,000, an increase of 21,000 from the previous week’s revised level. The previous week’s level was revised down by 6,000 from 1,726,000 to 1,720,000. The 4-week moving average was 1,728,750, a decrease of 13,250 from the previous week’s revised average. This is the lowest level for this average since December 8, 1973 when it was 1,715,500. The previous week’s average was revised down by 1,500 from 1,743,500 to 1,742,000.

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down one-tenth of a cent at $2.940 per gallon.
