U.S. home prices climbed a robust 6.2 percent from a year ago, with the strongest annual gains occurring here in Seattle, where prices have shot up 12.7 percent since October 2015.

European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up three-tenths of a cent at $2.447 per gallon.
