DJIA Market Happenings For Wednesday, March 8, 2017

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to up +20 points.

Tuesday the Dow was down -29.58 (-0.14%) at 20,924.76.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +5.88%.

There were 13 Dow stocks up Tuesday.

The Dow stock winners Tuesday were led by Intel (INTC) +0.65% and Boeing (BA) +0.60%.

The Dow stock losers Tuesday were led by Chevron (CVX) -1.20% and Verizon (VZ) -1.18%.

Caterpillar (CAT +0.28%) is down nearly 3% in premarket trading after a report commissioned by the government and reviewed by the NYT accuses the company of tax and accounting fraud.

ADP / Moody’s employment report shows the private sector surged by 298,000 for the month, with goods producers adding 106,000. Construction jobs swelled by 66,000 and manufacturing added 32,000. The total broke market expectations of 190,000.

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down one-tenth of a cent at $2.306 per gallon.
