DJIA Market Happenings For Thursday, January 26, 2017

Dow stocks at 52 week highs include Apple (AAPL), American Express (AXP), Boeing (BA), Caterpillar (CAT), Dupont (DD), Home Depot (HD), IBM (IBM), Microsoft (MSFT) and Visa (V). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +22 points.

Wednesday the Dow was up +155.80 (+0.78%) at 20,068.51.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +1.55%.

There were 23 Dow stocks up Wednesday.

The Dow stock winners Wednesday were led by Boeing (BA) +4.24% and Caterpillar (CAT) +1.98%.

The Dow stock losers Wednesday were led by Procter & Gamble (PG) -0.80% and Wal-Mart (WMT) -0.76%.

Caterpillar (CAT +1.98%) is down 1.5% in premarket trading after it reported Q4 revenue of $9.57 billion, below consensus of $9.81 billion.

The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits rose more than expected last week. Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 22,000 to a seasonally adjusted 259,000 for the week ended Jan. 21. Claims for the prior week were revised to show 3,000 more applications received than previously reported.

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down four-tenths of a cent at $2.293 per gallon.
