Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -26 points.

Tuesday the Dow was down -48.69 (-0.26%) at 18,454.30.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +5.91%.

The Dow stock winners Tuesday were led by Goldman Sachs (GS) +1.57% and JPMorgan (JPM) +0.82%.

The Dow stock losers Tuesday were led by Boeing (BA) -1.57% and Nike (NKE) -1.07%.

U.S. businesses added 177,000 jobs in August, according payroll processor ADP. Economists forecast that the government’s jobs report, to be released Friday, will show a gain of 180,000 jobs.

European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up five-tenths of a cent at $2.223 per gallon.
