Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -9 points.

Thursday the Dow was up +92.93 (+0.53%) at 17,733.10.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +1.77%.

There were 20 Dow stocks up Thursday.

The Dow stock winners Thursday were led by Merck (MRK) +2.51% and Dupont (DD) +1.76%.

The Dow stock losers Thursday were led by Nike (NKE) -1.55% and Boeing (BA) -0.61%.

Microsoft (MSFT) is breaking into the new field of marijuana compliance. The objective is to provide a tracking service that helps state governments keep tabs on newly legalized medical and recreational marijuana. A deal with Kind Financial provides tracking technology for cannabis seeds to help keep products out of illegal markets.

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down eight-tenths of a cent at $2.351 per gallon.
