DJIA Market Happenings For Friday, January 15, 2016

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -382 points.

Thursday, the Dow was up +227.64 (+1.41%) at 16,379.05.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -6.00%.

There were 28 Dow stocks up Thursday.

The Dow stock winners Thursday were led by Chevron (CVX) +5.09% and Exxon Mobil (XOM) +4.59%.

The Dow stock losers Thursday were led by Home Depot (HD) -1.47% and Nike (NKE) -0.46%.

Started buying again yesterday with a quarter position in HSIIX, my new favorite mutual fund. It’s buy the dips and sell the rips this year.

WTI Crude is down below $30 again and the market is falling apart (again). I like it. Only have a quarter position so far and we will get some sort of rally soon.

Intel (INTC +2.60%) dropped over 5% in premarket trading after it said it sees Q1 gross margins at 58% +/- a couple of points, below consensus of 61%.

Goldman Sachs (GS +1.51%) fell -1.0% in premarket trading after it agreed to settle a U.S. probe into its handling of mortgage-backed securities for about $5.1 billion, which will cut its Q4 profit by about $1.5 billion.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down 1.2 cents at $1.925 per gallon.
