Disney (DIS -0.22%) fell 2% in after-hours trading after it reported Q4 adjusted EPS of $1.20, better than consensus of $1.14, but Q4 revenue of $13.50 billion was below consensus of $13.56 billion.
U.S. hiring rose in October after two weak months, with employers adding a robust 271,000 jobs, the most since December. The unemployment rate dipped to a fresh seven-year low of 5 percent. Wages rose 9 cents to $25.20, 2.5 percent higher than 12 months ago, and the largest year-over-year gain since July 2009.
The job gains are likely strong enough to persuade the Federal Reserve to lift short-term interest rates at its next meeting in mid-December.
European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mixed.
The national average price of gasoline is up nine-tenths of a cent at $2.222 per gallon.
