DJIA Market Happenings For Thursday, August 6, 2015

There are no Dow stocks at 52 week highs.Dow stock 52 week lows include Cisco (CSCO), Home Depot (HD) and Wal-Mart (WMT).

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +21 points.

Wednesday, the Dow was down -10.22 (-0.06%) at 17,540.47

Year-to-date the Dow is down -1.59%.

There were 18 Dow stocks up Wednesday.

Dow stock winners Wednesday were led by UnitedHealth (UNH) +2.55% and Wal-Mart (WMT) +1.74%.

Dow stock losers Wednesday were led by Disney (DIS) -9.17% and Chevron (CVX) -1.38%.

Initial jobless claims came in at 270,000, climbing for a second week. Economists had estimated that initial claims for unemployment insurance rose to 272,000 last week from 267,000 prior. This was the last snapshot of the labor market we got ahead of the big jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday. The consensus forecast is for nonfarm payrolls to have risen by 225,000 in July from 223,000 in June.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mixed.

The national average price of gasoline is down seven-tenths of a cent at $2.623 per gallon.
