Dupont (DD) reported in-line earnings for its second quarter with net income of $940 million, or $1.03 per share, compared to $1.07 billion, or $1.15 per share, in the year-ago period. Its operating earnings rose to $1.18 per share from $1.17 per share. Net sales declined 11.5 percent to $8.60 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.18 per share on revenue of $8.75 billion.
European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly lower.
The national average price of gasoline is down 1.3 cents at $2.697 per gallon.
