Apple (AAPL) is down over 1% in premarket trading after Dow Jones reported that the company found defects in the ‘taptic engine’ of the Apple Watch.

The Labor Department reported initial claims for state unemployment benefits fell 34,000 to a seasonally adjusted 262,000 for the week ended April 25, the lowest reading since April 2000. It was the eighth straight week that claims remained below 300,000.

European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended lower.

The national average price of gasoline is up 1.7 cents at $2.580 per gallon.
