The Dow Market Happenings For Thursday, February 12, 2015

Dow stocks at 52 week highs include Pfizer (PFE). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +45 points.

Wednesday, the Dow was down -6.62 (-0.04%) at 17,862.14.

Year-to-date the Dow is up 0.22%.

There were 11 Dow stocks up Wednesday.

Dow stock winners Wednesday included Goldman Sachs (GS) +1.67% and Travelers (TRV) +1.17%.

Dow stock losers Wednesday were led by Cisco (CSCO) -2.04% and Nike (NKE) -1.55%.

Cisco (CSCO) jumped over 6% in premarket trading after it reported Q2 EPS of 53 cents, better than consensus of 51 cents.

The Labor Departmennt reported initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 25,000 to a seasonally adjusted 304,000 for the week ended Feb. 7. The prior week’s data was revised to show 1,000 more applications received than previously reported. Economists had forecast claims rising to 285,000 last week. The four-week moving average of claims, considered a better measure of labor market trends as it irons out week-to-week volatility, fell 3,250 to 289,750 last week.

European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is up 1.8 cents at $2.231 per gallon.

Cisco (CSCO) will report earnings on 2/11/2015 after the close.

Wal-Mart (WMT) reports earnings on 2/19/15 before the open.

Home Depot (HD) reports earnings on 2/24/15 before the open.
