The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -130 points.

Friday, the Dow closed up +263.17 (+1.63%) at 16,380.41.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -1.18%. Nasdaq is at +2.0%, S&P 500 +2.1% and Russell 2000 -7.0%.

Last week the Dow lost -1.0%, Nasdaq -0.4%, S&P 500 -1.0% and Russell 2000 gained +2.8%.

There were no Dow stock losers Friday.

Dow stock winners Friday included United Health (UNH) +3.27%, American Express (AXP) +2.92%, Disney (DIS) +2.56% and Goldman Sachs (GS) +2.51%.

International Business Machines (IBM) reported Q3 EPS of $3.68, well below consensus of $4.32.

Looks like today’s Dow drop is due to IBM falling.

The Fed is set to hold its two-day policy meeting on October 28 and 29, where it is largely expected to finish its bond-buying program as scheduled.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended higher.

The national average price of gasoline over the weekend is down 4.4 cents at $3.100 per gallon. Friday at the local Gig Harbor Costco, regular gas was $2.99 a gallon. I really can’t remember when I last saw it that low.
