The Dow Market Happenings For Wednesday, October 1, 2014

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -29 points.

Tuesday, the Dow closed down -28.32 (-0.17%) at 17,042.90.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +2.81%.

There were 13 Dow stock winners Tuesday.

Dow stock losers Tuesday included McDonald’s (MCD) -1.47% and Home Depot (HD) -1.23%.

Dow stock winners Tuesday included Visa (V) +1.16% and Coca Cola (KO)

The ADP employment report said private sector small business employment increased by 88,000 jobs from August to September.

European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mixed.

The national average price of gasoline is unchanged at $3.333 per gallon.

TravelCenters of America LLC (TA) reported second quarter EPS of $0.36 on revenue of $2.08 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.54 on revenue of $2.02 billion.

Walgreen Company (WAG) reported fourth quarter EPS of $0.74 on revenue of $19.06 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.73 on revenue of $27.94 billion.

Acuity Brands, Inc. (AYI) is expected to report fourth quarter EPS of $1.22 on revenue of $647.87 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $1.03 on revenue of $579.80 million.

AZZ Incorporated (AZZ) is expected to report second quarter EPS of $0.63 on revenue of $208.18 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.64 on revenue of $189.78 million.
