DJIA Market Happenings For Friday, September 26, 2014

Dow stocks at 52 week highs include Dupont (DD) and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +31 points.

Thursday, the Dow closed down -264.26 (-1.54%) at 16,945.80.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +2.23%.

There were no Dow stock winners Thursday.

Dow stock losers Thursday included JPMorgan (JPM) -2.40% and UnitedHealth (UNH) -2.30%.

Nike (NKE) reported earnings Thursday after the market close of $1.09/share, beating consensus of $0.88/share. Shares in Nike (NKE) were up about 7% premarket after the company reported a 70% jump in online sales in the past quarter.

Intel Corporation (INTC) is planning to spend about $1.5 billion in order to buy a 20 percent stake in Tsinghua Unigroup, a move that will help the company expand further into the smartphone market. Tsinghua owns Spreadtrum Communications and RDA Microelectronics, companies that manufacture smartphone computer chips. When the deal is completed, Intel is expected to team up with the Chinese corporation to make a new line of chips.

European stocks are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down one-tenth of a cent at $3.344 per gallon.

Diamond Foods, Inc. (DMND) reported fourth quarter EPS of $0.19 on revenue of $219.10 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.09 on revenue of $199.80 million.

Micron Technology, Inc. (MU) reported fourth quarter EPS of $0.82 on revenue of $4.23 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.20 on revenue of $2.84 billion.

Nike Inc (NKE) reported first quarter EPS of $1.09 on revenue of $7.96 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.86 on revenue of $6.97 billion.

Thor Industries, Inc. (THO) reported fourth quarter EPS of $1.25 on revenue of $1.04 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $1.04 on revenue of $914.00 million.

BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY) is expected to report a second quarter loss of $0.16 on revenue of $942.93 million, compared to last year’s loss of $0.47 on revenue of $1.57 billion.

Finish Line Inc (FINL) is expected to report second quarter EPS of $0.60 on revenue of $477.61 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.54 on revenue of $436.03 million.
