The Dow Market Happenings For Friday, September 19, 2014

Dow stocks at 52 week highs include Dupont (DD), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), Goldman Sachs (GS) and 3M (MMM). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +71 points.

Thursday, the Dow closed up +109.14 (+0.64%) at 17,265.99.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +4.16%.

Dow stock winners Thursday included Dupont (DD) +2.82% and JPMorgan (JPM) +1.67%.

Dow stock losers Thursday included Exxon Mobil (XOM) -0.48% and Chevron (CVX) -0.47%.

There were 26 Dow stock winners Thursday.

Home Depot (HD) raised guidance on fiscal 2015 EPS view to $4.54 from $4.52, higher than consensus of $4.50.

Alibaba Group Holding (NYSE: BABA) raised $21.8 billion in its initial public offering, one of the largest ever. The Chinese e-commerce company priced its shares at $68, the high end of the expected range. The high share price values the company at $167.6 billion.

Alibaba (BABA) was initiated with a ‘Buy’ at Cantor with a price target of $90.

Home Depot (HD) has said that around 56 billion customer payment cards may have been at risk following a cyber attack that began back in April.The company estimated that the hacking incident is going to cost them $62 million, but has said it will take more time to determine how much damage has been done.

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down eight-tenths of a cent at $3.356 per gallon.

IHS Inc. (IHS) reported third quarter EPS of $1.49 on revenue of $556.00 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $1.27 on revenue of $480.29 million.

Oracle Corporation (ORCL) reported first quarter EPS of $0.62 on revenue of $8.60 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.59 on revenue of $8.77 billion.

Rite Aid Corporation (RAD) reported second quarter EPS of $0.13 on revenue of $6.52 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.03 on revenue of $6.28 billion.
