The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +36 points.

Wednesday, the Dow closed up +59.54 (+0.35%) at 16,979.13.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +2.43%.

Dow stock winners Wednesday included Home Depot (HD) +2.86% and Boeing (BA) +1.41%.

Dow stock losers Wednesday included Microsoft (MSFT) -0.84%, Disney (DIS) -0.28% and McDonald’s (MCD) -0.28%.

There were 22 Dow stock winners Wednesday.

Four McDonald’s (MCD) restaurants in Moscow have been closed down due to sanitary violations, something U.S. policy makers say is Russia’s way of hitting back against the latest round of sanctions.

One time Dow stock Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) reported Q3 adjusted EPS of 89 cents, right on consensus, although Q3 revenue of $27.6 billion was better than consensus of $27.01 billion.

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down five-tenths of a cent at $3.436 per gallon.
