The Dow Market Happenings For Thursday, June 19, 2014

Dow stocks at 52 week highs include Chevron (CVX) and Coca Cola (KO). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -5 points.

Wednesday, the Dow closed up +98.13 (+0.58%) at 16,906.62.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +1.99%.

Dow stock winners Wednesday included Coca Cola (KO) +1.56% and Nike (NKE) +1.49%.

Dow stock losers Wednesday included Microsoft (MSFT) -0.07% and Intel (INTC) -0.07%. Those were the only losers today.

Wednesday there were 28 Dow stock winners.

Looks like the market liked what Janet Yellen and the committee had to say today.

The S&P 500 hit another high.

The Labor Department reported initial claims for state unemployment benefits slipped 6,000 to a seasonally adjusted 312,000 for the week ended June 14. Economists had forecast first-time applications for jobless aid falling to 314,000. The four-week moving average for new claims fell 3,750 to 311,750 last week.

European stocks were higher and Asian markets ended mixed.

The national average price of gasoline is up six-tenths of a cent at $3.675 per gallon.

Actuant Corporation (ATU) reported third quarter EPS of $0.70 on revenue of $378.19 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.62 on revenue of $344.20 million.

FedEx (FDX) reported fourth quarter EPS of $2.46 on revenue of $11.80 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $2.13 on revenue of $11.44 billion.

Jabil Circuit (BL) reported a third quarter loss of $0.06 on revenue of $3.79 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.56 on revenue of $4.47 billion.

Red Hat (RHT) reported first quarter EPS of $0.34 on revenue of $424.00 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.32 on revenue of $363.26 million.

BlackBerry (BBRY) is expected to report a first quarter loss of $0.25 on revenue of $969.56 million, compared to last year’s loss of $0.13 on revenue of $3.07 billion.

Kroger Company (KR) is expected to report first quarter EPS of $1.05 on revenue of $32.57 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.92 on revenue of $30.04 billion.

Oracle Corporation (ORCL) is expected to report fourth quarter EPS of $0.95 on revenue of $11.48 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.87 on revenue of $10.95 billion.

Rite Aid (RAD) is expected to report first quarter EPS of $0.05 on revenue of $6.43 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.09 on revenue of $6.29 billion.
