The Dow Market Happenings For Monday, March 10, 2014

Dow stocks at 52 week highs include American Express (AXP) and Walt Disney (DIS). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -31 points.

Friday, the Dow closed up +30.83 (+0.19%) at 16,452.72.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -0.75%. Nasdaq is up +3.8%, S&P 500 +1.6% and Russell 2000 +3.4%.

Last week the Dow was up +0.8%, Nasdaq +0.7%, S&P 500 +1.0% and Russell 2000 +1.7%.

Boeing (BA) shares are down about 2% premarket after Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, a Boeing 777, disappeared Saturday in mysterious circumstances en route to Beijing. The company also announced late Friday that “hairline cracks” had been found on some of its Dreamliner 787 jets still in production.

JP Morgan reported a 10.6% passive stake in United Online (UNTD) .

European stocks are mixed and Asian stocks ended lower.

The national average price of gasoline over the weekend is up five-tenths of a cent to $3.489 per gallon.

Nike (NKE) is expected to report earnings on 3/20/14 after the market close.

Big Lots (BIG) reported fourth quarter EPS of $1.39 on revenue of $1.64 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $2.09 on revenue of $1.75 billion.

Footlocker(FL) reported fourth quarter EPS of $0.82 on revenue of $1.79 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.73 on revenue of $1.71 billion.

W&T Offshore (WTI) reported a fourth quarter loss of $0.09 per share on revenue of $244.90 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.26 on revenue of $237.15 million.

Stocks reporting earnings today include:

Hill International (HIL) is expected to report fourth quarter EPS of $0.01 on revenue of $134.74 million, compared to last year’s loss of $0.04 per share on revenue of $110.77 million.

United Natural Foods (UNFI) is expected to report second quarter EPS of $0.56 on revenue of $1.64 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.46 on revenue of $1.45 billion.

Urban Outfitters (URBN) is expected to report fourth quarter EPS of $0.55 on revenue of $928.43 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.56 on revenue of $856.83 million.
