DJIA Market Happenings For Friday, March 07, 2014

Dow stocks at 52 week highs include American Express (AXP), Dupont (DD), Merck (MRK), Pfizer (PFE) and Walt Disney (DIS). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +82 points.

Thursday, the Dow closed up +61.71 (+0.38%) at 16,421.89.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -0.93%.

The Labor Department said U.S. employers added 175,000 jobs to their payrolls last month, exceeding expectations for 149,000 jobs, after creating 129,000 new positions in January. The unemployment rate, however, edged up to 6.7 percent from a five-year low of 6.6 percent.

So far the market likes the labor data.

European stocks are lower and Asian stocks ended mixed.

The national average price of gasoline is up a penny to $3.484 per gallon.

There are no Dow stocks scheduled to report earnings in the near term.

Craft Brew Alliance(BREW) reported fourth quarter EPS of $0.04 on revenue of $47.30 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.01 on revenue of $44.90 million.

Kroger(KR) reported fourth quarter EPS of $0.78 on revenue of $23.22 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.51 on revenue of $21.73 billion.

Joy Global(JOY) reported fourth quarter EPS of $0.49 on revenue of $839.38 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $1.31 on revenue of $1.15 billion.

Big Lots(BIG) is expected to report fourth quarter EPS of $1.42 on revenue of $1.62 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $2.09 on revenue of $1.75 billion.

Footlocker(FL) is expected to report fourth quarter EPS of $0.76 on revenue of $1.7 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.73 on revenue of $1.71 billion.
