The Market
Premarket, the Dow was indicated to open up +47 points.
Thursday, the Dow closed up +188.30 (+1.22%) at 15,628.53.
Year-to-date the Dow is down -5.72%.
The government Jobs Report said only 113,000 jobs were created in January. The unemployment rate came in at 6.6%. Economists expected the U.S. economy to have added 178,000 jobs and the unemployment rate to remain unchanged at 6.7%.
All eleven triple ETFs I watch that represent different market segments opened higher this morning and most are still in the green at this time. However, those gains are withering away quickly.
Data and charts are telling me the market has turned higher, but I just don’t feel it yet.
European stocks are higher and Asian stocks ended higher.
The national average price of gasoline is down one-tenth of a cent to $3.69 per gallon.
