The Market

Premarket, the Dow was indicated to open down -3 points.

Tuesday, the Dow closed up +72.44 (+0.47%) at 15,445.24.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -6.83%.

ADP’s January National Employment Report estimated that 175,000 workers were hired by private-sector firms in January. Market economists were looking for a 185,000 estimate. The December estimate from ADP’s previous report was revised down to 227,000 from 238,000.

Merck (MRK) reported Q4 EPS of 88 cents, below consensus of 89 cents.

Microsoft (MSFT) names Satya Nadella as its new CEO.

Friday brings us the Jobs Report.

Disney (DIS) reports earnings today after the close.

European stocks are mostly higher and Asian stocks ended mixed.

The national average price of gasoline is down five-tenths of a cent to $3.274 per gallon.

Sirius XM Radio (SIRI) reported Q4 EPS of $0.01, missing the consensus estimate of $0.02. Revenue of $1 billion beat the consensus estimate of $981.9 million.
