GE Healthcare (GE) will acquire Thermo Fisher’s (TMO) cell culture and gene modulation units for about $1.1 billon.
Wednesday will get the release of minutes from the Federal Reserve’s December meeting, when it announced plans to trim its monthly bond purchases by $10 billion to $75 billion beginning this month.
Friday we get the Jobs Report.
European stocks are higher and Asian stocks ended lower.
The national average price of gasoline over the weekend is down nine-tenths of a cent to $3.317 per gallon.

American Express (AXP) will report earnings on 1/9/14 after the market close.
JPMorgan (JPM) reports earnings on 1/14/14 before the market open.
Intel (INTC) reports earnings on 1/15/14 after the market close.
Goldman Sachs (GS) will report earnings on 1/16/14 before the market open.
United Health (UNH) reports earnings on 1/16/14 before the market open.
Earnings reports from Friday include:
Lindsay Corporation (LNN) reported fiscal first-quarter earnings. EPS came in at $0.79 missing expectations by $0.10. Revenue beat expectations with the company reporting $147.7 million versus estimates of $142.2 million.

Schulman (SHLM) will report fiscal first-quarter earnings. Analysts expect EPS of $0.47 on revenue of $571 million.
Sonic (SONC) will also report fiscal first-quarter earnings. Analysts expect EPS of $0.14 on revenue of $127.98 million.
