The Dow Market Happenings For Monday, December 16, 2013

Dow stocks at new 52 week highs include Visa (V). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket, the Dow was indicated to open up +85 points.

Friday, the Dow closed up +15.93 (+0.10%) at 15,755.36

Year-to-date the Dow is up +22.3%, Nasdaq +34.5%, S&P 500 +26.6% and Russell 2000 +33.2%.

Tuesday, the Fed starts its final policy meeting of the year. The Fed has been pumping $85 billion per month into the financial system since September 2012. It will announce any policy changes after it wraps up its two-day meeting Wednesday afternoon.

Exxon Mobil (XOM) was upgraded to ‘Buy’ from ‘Neutral’ at Goldman.

European stocks are lower and Asian stocks ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline over the weekend is down two cents to $3.228 per gallon.
