Market Happenings For Monday, November 04, 2013

Dow stocks at new 52 week highs include Boeing (BA), General Electric (GE) and 3M (MMM). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Friday the Dow closed up +69.80 (+0.45%) at 15,615.55.

Premarket, the Dow was indicated to open up +48 points.

Last week DJIA was up +0.3% and the S&P 500 +0.1%. Nasdaq was down -0.5% and the Russell 2000 -2.0%.

Year-to-date DJIA is up +19.2%, Nasdaq +29.9%, S&P 500 +23.5% and Russell 2000 +29.0%.

The U.S. gross domestic product report for the third quarter will come out Thursday and give us the first glimpse into the impact the government shutdown had on the economy.

Walt Disney (DIS) reports earnings on Thursday.

European markets are higher and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down 2.3 cents over the weekend to $3.252 per gallon.

Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) reports earnings on 11/13/13 after the market close.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) reports earnings on 11/14/13 before the market open.

Earnings reports from Friday include:

Chevron Corporation (CVX) reported third quarter EPS of $2.57 on revenue of $56.60 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $2.57 per share on revenue of $58.04 billion.

CBOE Holdings, Inc. (CBOE) reported third quarter EPS of $0.47 on revenue of $136.70 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.43 on revenue of $128.32 million.

WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (WCG) reported EPS of $1.56 on revenue of $2.50 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $1.05 on revenue of $1.82 billion.

Other stocks expected to report earnings today include:

CME Group Inc. (CME) is expected to report third quarter EPS of $0.75 on revenue of $723.35 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.70 on revenue of $683.20 million.

Hill International, Inc. (HIL) is expected to report EPS of $0.05 on revenue of $ 131.73 million, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.03 on revenue of $103.56 million.

Plains All American Pipeline, L.P. (PAA) is expected to report third quarter EPS of $0.49 on revenue of $9.71 billion, compared to last year’s EPS of $0.73 per share on revenue of $9.35 billion.
